Tommy Booth
In 1989 Tommy Booth auditioned for the reunion of the Allman Brothers Band. After a runoff the late Allan Woody was selected but Tommy remained close to the heart of the ABB members and was anointed the prestigeous nickname of "The Almost Brother" by the Brothers. He still retains friendship with the ABB & Mgt. today.
In 2000 after his move from NYC to New Paltz, NY he formed his own band PEACHjam which remains a regional favorite to date. Current members include guitarists Dave Skoglund; Chris “Smokin Opey” D’Amato*(Debbie Davies; Pinetop Perkins; Albert Collins); keyboardist Steve Demieri; and drummer Roger Voss. We often have VERY Special guests such as singer/songwriter Kelly Ward; guitarist Steve Raleigh and former Cheryl Crow guitarist Todd Wolfe.
Pjam is first and foremost a live concert DANCE BAND- unique in style described as “eclectic Americana.” The band’s regular repertoire varies between powerful swinging blues shuffles, country quicksteps, rockers and beautiful ballads borrowed from The Allmans, The Dead, Dylan, Clapton, Johnny Cash and even a few tasty tunes of our own! Admittedly, while Tommy brings a very obvious Allman influence to PEACHjam, the band’s sound defies any parallel with the commercially familiar by-product known as “Southern Rock!”
While the above listed sampling may sound like a hodge-podge typical of your local area cover band- this is not the case. On any given night, the band’s performance is marked by interaction with it’s audience- the result being the spontaneous rendering of popular tunes put to energetic dance groove. And depending on the crowd’s mood- they will either choose to kick back and relax- or swing around the room with reckless abandon! As a particular point of pride, Tommy prefers to use the term “powerful” rather than “Overpowering” in describing the band’s sound
